About the owner
Hi, I’m Louise, a qualified Master Cat Groomer, and the proud owner of Purrcasso Cat Grooming. Just like the great artist (Picasso) himself, I adore cats and despite being a huge animal lover, cats have always had a special place in my heart. My first cat was a black and white rescue cat called Sid. He gave me 20 years of unconditional love and fabulous memories, something which as cat owners we always treasure.
My first introduction to owning a long-haired cat was when I lived and worked in Malta for a few years. I fell in love with a little 3-month-old silver shaded Persian when passing a pet shop window. Little did I know that this small ball of fluff, who I called Misty, would end up being little Miss High Maintenance! This started me on my journey of cat grooming as I soon realised that whilst cats groom themselves, she was going to need some help keeping her coat in tip top condition.
There were no cat groomers in Malta and not something people had even heard of. Even when I returned to the UK with Misty, I found it difficult to find a cat exclusive groomer and one that had been professionally trained and held a qualification. Through my experience of owning cats and understanding their different behaviours, I taught myself and developed techniques to keep Misty’s coat in good condition.
Fast forward a few years and I finally had the opportunity to leave my corporate career in Risk Management and pursue my passion for cat grooming. I trained at the highly regarded Cat Grooming School in London. Having become a certified Master Cat Groomer, the highest accolade in cat grooming, I set up my own cat grooming business “Purrcasso” soon after and I have never looked back.
I fully appreciate the skills, time and care needed to groom a cat to keep their coat in superior condition. This does take understanding and a lot of patience, something which I’m proud Purrcasso offers. I love what I do and most of all I get to spend every working day with so many different furry friends, making them look and feel a million dollars. Happy cats, happy owners!
I’m currently the proud carer (or should I say handmaiden!) to another little pint-sized Chinchilla Persian, Lily, and a semi-long haired rescue cat, Piper, (pictured) both of whom provide me with no end of entertainment and enjoyment.
As well as being professionally qualified, I am fully insured and hold a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certifcate.
I have also completed a Feline Health, Well-Being and First Aid Course written and taught by vet, Sophie Bell. This is a very informative course covering not just first aid for cats but also ideas to improve well-being.
